In the outback of Australia’s Northern Territiry, 354 kilometres south of Darwin, lies the oasis of Katherine. Following the Stuart Highway (known to the locals simply as ‘the track’) you eventually arrive at the town of Katherine and the spectacular Katherine George National Park. Here the clear river flows between towering, brilliantly coloured walls of one of the most fascinating river canyons in Australia.

One of the outback’s hidden treasures, the spectacular Kings Canyon is 100 kilometers south west of Alice Springs and is arguably Australia’s most beautiful, naturally occurring oasis. You can climb to the rim of the Canyon to see ‘the lost city’ or weathered rock that resembles the ruins of an ancient city as well as the perennial water holes surrounded by the palm-filled ‘Gardens of Eden’.
