1. for the ladies or any other shoppers wanting authentic designer goods (NOT the stuff off the streets!)....you may not have the time on a contiki tour, but if you really want great deals on italian and other designers (gucci, fendi, ysl, burberry), you should make a trip to THE MALL. it’s a designer outlet about 30 min from florence (take a train from santa maria novella to rignano sull arno). you will get AWESOME deals on designer goods ($1000 bags for $300). of course, i would never suggest to miss the beauty that is florence, but if you have the time or are lucky enough to visit twice, it’s definitely worth it.

2. ladies, i would strongly advise to bring wedges over thin heels. they are more comfortable when walking on cobblestone and your heels will not get ruined. you don’t know how many girls ended up with scratched up heels after getting stuck in the road. :P
