2. My first time I went to Europe with just my friend, we did the backpacking thing. Never again. For my male friend it was okay but I had a difficult time carrying around the weight even up the stairs. Second time I went the suitcase route and never regretted it. I just dragged it up the stairs. That was much preferable to the backpack :D
