London is one of the most happening, famous and cosmopolitan cities in the world.
Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, the West End, London Eye, Oxford Street, Harrods, Kensington, Hyde Park, the Tower of London is just the surface of what London has to offer while all the pubs, clubs and bars add to the vibe of one of Europe’s most buzzing capital cities.
The city is Contiki’s European base with many of our tours starting and finishing at the Royal National Hotel (official site)
The British Museum and Natural History Museum in London are really great and you can’t beat the prices… FREE!
You have GOT to go on the Eye while visiting London- the views are amazing!
Catch the double decker bus and grab a ticket to go on the river thames it has a guide on the boat! If your sick of castles go to the london dungeon its well worth it and you’ll leave scared!
London is one of the BEST places to go shopping! If you came to shop, you MUST treat yourself to just a little something from the TopShop on Oxford Street. Am I right? It’s a bit of a madhouse in there, though.
Some other stores that I really enjoyed were Monsoon/Accessorize, Miss Selfridge, and Jane Norman. But keep in mind the British Pound is nearly double the US Dollar!
Catching a premiership match between August and May is a must for any football fan – Chelsea, Arsenal, Fulham, West Ham, Tottenham are all within reach of the city. Movie theatres in London’s suburbs are generally half the ticket price of ones in the West End
Just off of Covent Garden Market there is a French patisserie called ‘Pauls’ which does really nice tea, any day you go it’ll be busy…very popular with the locals while if you want to be super-posh book yourself in for high tea at the Ritz! One of prince Charles’ favorite hang outs….book well in advance though.
